Responsible Gambling

SkinsRanked publishes editorial content about skins for CS2, Rust, Dota 2, and other games, as well as third-party services. Some topics involve gambling or paying for random rewards. These activities can cause financial harm, affect well-being, and damage relationships. A guide, review, or rating does not remove those risks.

We do not operate gambling, accept bets or deposits, hold skins, pay winnings or manage accounts on external platforms. We currently have no affiliate agreements or paid placements with the services covered.

Skins and virtual balances have a cost

Losing a skin can mean losing something you paid for or could otherwise sell. Site credits and virtual balances can make spending feel less real, but fees, repeated deposits, and lost items still have a financial impact. A displayed balance is not necessarily equivalent to cash you can withdraw.

Buying a known item at an agreed price differs from staking an item on an uncertain result. Paid case opening, battles, and skin upgrades can nevertheless encourage repeated spending for a chance of receiving something more valuable. Their legal classification varies, but that does not remove the possibility of harm.

Do not treat gambling, case openings, or skin trading as a reliable income source. Values can fall, and a past win does not make another win more likely or guarantee a profitable result.

Age and local rules

Gambling-related content is intended for adults aged 18 or over, or the higher minimum age required where they live. Eligibility to play a video game or use Steam is not permission to gamble. We do not provide age verification on this editorial website.

An international review does not establish that a service is lawful in your country. Check local rules and provider restrictions. Do not use false details, another person’s identity, or a VPN to bypass age, location, or self-exclusion requirements.

Set limits before spending

  • Keep rent, food, bills, and other essential funds separate from gambling
  • Set a spending limit and a stopping time in advance, and stop when either is reached
  • Count skins, keys, credits, fees, and repeat deposits when reviewing your total spending
  • Do not borrow, use credit, or sell essential belongings to continue playing/gambling
  • Do not chase losses by increasing stakes or opening more cases
  • Avoid gambling when distressed, tired, or affected by alcohol or other substances

Limits reduce exposure but do not make gambling safe. If you cannot keep up with them, take a break and seek support instead of looking for another platform.

Promotions and fairness claims

A free case, code or bonus may have eligibility, deposit, wagering or withdrawal conditions. Do not spend money merely to unlock an offer. A "provably fair" mechanism may help verify part of a result; it does not establish a provider’s licensing, financial security, or willingness to pay withdrawals. A losing streak or near miss does not mean a win is due.

Warning signs

  • Spending more money or time than intended
  • Returning repeatedly to recover lost money or skins
  • Hiding transactions or lying about spending
  • Feeling preoccupied or distressed when unable to play
  • Neglecting sleep, study, work, or relationships
  • Finding it difficult to stop despite wanting to

You do not need to wait until every sign applies. You can speak to someone you trust or seek specialist support. Friends and family affected by another person’s gambling can also ask for help.

Taking a break and restricting access

Ask each provider about a cooling-off period, account closure, or self-exclusion. Where available, consider national exclusion schemes, blocking software, payment blocks, and removal of saved payment methods. Turn off promotional notifications and unsubscribe from gambling marketing.

These measures have limits. An exclusion from one provider may not cover others, national schemes may not include offshore or skin-based services, and bank blocks may not recognise skin transfers. Check the actual coverage. SkinsRanked cannot close or exclude you from another company’s accounts.

Support wherever you live

Gambling Therapy, part of Gordon Moody, offers free online practical advice and emotional support to people affected by gambling around the world. Visit https://gamblingtherapy.org/ for the available support and multilingual resources. The service can also help you look for local support.

You can contact a qualified healthcare professional or an addiction support service in your country. Availability and eligibility differ between services. SkinsRanked does not provide counselling or treatment.

Protecting younger players

Parents and carers should discuss the difference between ordinary gameplay, buying a specific cosmetic item, and paying for random outcomes or bets. Use appropriate purchase approvals and parental controls, secure payment details, and supervise shared devices. Do not let a child use an adult’s gambling account or identity. Controls support supervision rather than replacing it.
